Letter from Lothar - October inSight

I hope that you have had a nice summer with your loved ones and that you have been able to re-charge your batteries. If you needed or wanted to travel, it was hopefully possible without any hassle caused by strikes, delays at airports security and/or luggage handling etc.

As we are now all preparing for a busy end of year season there is still room for industry meetings which many of us have attended.

As the Cargo iQ team, we participated in the ACHL conference during the first week of September in Athens, Greece. We scheduled many one-to-one meetings with industry stakeholders so that we could introduce Cargo iQ to them. We had the possibility to meet with members and we received a lot of positive feedback on the Cargo iQ activities. Megha took part in an interesting panel discussion on finding and retaining skilled staff, which highlighted the need for training and diversity in the workplace. This is close to our hearts, as we are providing basic and advanced training seminars for our members – an initiative which is high in demand.

During the last week of September, we of course participated at the IATA World Cargo Symposium. We scheduled our Board Meeting with an extra session for IT experts on the future of data exchange among stakeholders in the transportation chain. Our Membership meeting on the 29th September was held in a hybrid fashion. It was unfortunately not possible to share a nice piece of celebration cake and prosecco with the members who attended virtually, but we made a hearty effort to celebrate the special occasion of Cargo iQ’s 25th anniversary.

We managed to combine another Cargo iQ training with our trip to the WCS. The training was well attended and hosted by our member, dnata. The interactive seminar was not only interesting for the attendees, but also for the Cargo iQ team – we learned a lot.

Another in-person advanced training is scheduled for the 16th November 2022 in Frankfurt, to be hosted by DB Schenker. We will hold the first advanced training of 2023 alongside the Working Group meetings in January in Abu Dhabi.

Now, please find below the interesting news about our latest MOP milestones, progress on Cargo iQ’s Road Feeder Services pilot, and our objectives looking ahead to 2023.

We also hope you will enjoy watching our new testimonial video, created with the help of Cargo iQ’s dedicated members to commemorate 25 years of driving quality in the air cargo supply chain.
