Welcome to the February 2020 edition of inSight!

This is the first edition of the new decade, and it promises to be an exhilarating time for the air cargo industry with much change and disruption.

This year, Cargo iQ and its members will continue with initiatives which will further help the industry improve the quality of planning and control of shipments, for movement as well as conditions under which they are moved.

We will officially launch a new initiative for Care Mapping, announcing the companies that are taking part in the Pilot Program at the International Air Transport Association (IATA)’s World Cargo Symposium, Istanbul, on 11 March.

Care mapping will offer tools and standards for planning and control, as well as for process and provider evaluation of conditions under which shipments move.

This is particularly exciting as we will introduce an industry standard for quality control for service delivery of Shipment Care – the next logical step after our current focus on shipment movement.

Meanwhile, the Air to Air specifications group has created a more flexible way of planning and therefore monitoring shipments that caters for less than perfect conditions.

This is great news, as we have committed to work on getting all shipments monitored. Only by reporting all shipments can we ensure that Cargo iQ supports business processes everywhere and that we will address planning challenges efficiently. The project for this development is called INCLUDE.

This month we were also delighted to welcome the full air cargo handling organisation of dnata with all their stations across the globe. The Dubai-headquartered ground handler’s stations in the UK and the Netherlands were previously members on an individual basis.

We look forward to dnata’s increased contributions to Cargo iQ initiatives and working groups which will benefit our members and the air cargo supply chain.

At WCS in Istanbul we are holding our AGM and our team looks forward to holding in-depth discussions with members and other industry colleagues.

Our members will make a difference to the industry as a whole in 2020, helping drive the air cargo supply chain to even greater heights.
