By Ariaen Zimmerman, Executive Director, Cargo iQ
This recent year has turned out to be again a busy one for Cargo iQ and has seen us launch various new initiatives and new members join the fold.
Last month, we saw our members attend a very successful working group in Kuala Lumpur, where, for the first time, we worked in our new result focused SMAMS approach.
In this SMAMS approach, all our activities explicitly address their implementation aspects for our Specifications, MOP, Audit, Message and Data exchange, and (Cargo iQ) Systems. It also introduces an agile version of quick development through the introduction of work packages as a way to seed and evaluate new projects and project elements.
Another element of the Working Group was an informative Implementation Session. In the spirit of collaboration, Cargo iQ hosted the sessions to facilitate knowledge sharing and teamwork between new and seasoned members.
Looking ahead to 2020, we are excited what the year will hold, as we have some new initiatives that will be launched in the early part of the year.
These include finalizing the framework for care mapping, where we will introduce an industry standard for quality control for service delivery of Shipment Care – the next logical step after our current focus on shipment movement.
Also, our efforts to create a clear and transparent operational line between ground handing warehouse and ramp operations will fully materialize, which will allow for better management of shipment custody.
And last but definitely not least, we look forward to introduce a comprehensive set of service parameters that will allow not only Cargo iQ but the whole industry to express the differences between various cargo products in a digital way, paving the way to sell, buy and manage differentiated cargo products in our ever digitalizing world.
As part of these new projects we are looking for companies that are interested in being part of pilot programs for both the care mapping and service parameter initiatives. If you are interested, then please contact me or a member of the Cargo iQ team.
As we head into 2020, we look forward to working with our members and the industry as a whole, to make a difference and to further enhance the quality of the air cargo supply chain and help drive the industry to even greater heights.
