Cargo iQ success at WCS

April 30, 2019

The International Air Transport Association’s (IATA)’s World Cargo Symposium (WCS) and our Annual General Meeting that we have there are always some of the most important events for Cargo iQ, and this year was no exception as we made some big announcements during the four-day convention in Singapore last month.

For instance, that Royal Air Maroc became the latest airline to join the Cargo iQ family.

Headquartered in Casablanca-Anfa Airport, the airline has a network of more than 90 destinations and now joins more than 80 other Cargo iQ members.

“Membership will allow us to utilise the milestones established by Cargo iQ, as well as access member-generated data to ensure our processes and reporting are of the highest possible industry standard,” said Salim Quouninich, Director Cargo, Royal Air Maroc.

The airline follows Malaysia-based MAB Kargo and Japanese carrier ANA Cargo in becoming members of Cargo iQ in recent months.

We were also delighted to announce to the symposium that we successfully trialled a new solution for independent freight forwarders.

With the SME Solution, we have improved the planning and control options for those small and medium sized forwarders which work with member airlines on a small scale or regional basis.

“With Cargo iQ SME, we provide a turn-key solution for independent freight forwarders to benefit from shipment  planning and control  through shared Route Maps  and operational  visibility for various milestones along  the  shipment lifecycle,” said Chris Davies, Manager Product and Technology at Cargo iQ.

These features form part of Cargo iQ’s Master Operating Plan (MOP), our system of clearly defined common business processes.

“Cargo iQ’s members work together to continuously improve the value of airfreight for customers, and, by expanding our Solutions Portfolio, we are opening the door to a wider section of the air cargo industry,” added Davies.

Following a trial period, which started with CCS Italy, an official launch date for SME will be announced in the next few months.

Forwarders that join the SME portal will also have the option to apply for full Cargo iQ membership to benefit  from additional  performance  reporting,  benchmarking, collaboration, and insights.
